PIANC AUSTRIA TO SUPPORT YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

According to the initiative of PIANC to recruit younger members, PIANC Section Austria increased its promotional activities towards Young Professionals. In 2004, Section Austria gained five new Young Professionals as members. In order to improve PIANC services for Young Professionals, a specific trainee program - initiated by Mr. Reinhard Pfliegl (picture), Managing Director of PIANC Section Austria (via donau), by Mr. Manfred Seitz (via donau) and Mr. Rudolf Hye (DTSG - Donau-Tankschifffahrtsgesellschaft mbH), all members of the Board of PIANC Austria - has been developed. During this program, Young Professionals have the opportunity to experience the entire transport and logistics process of bulk goods in inland navigation, both in Austria and on an international transport route such as to Bratislava or to Budapest. This offers Young Professionals a complete overview of all processes on a crude oil vessel, cross-boarding and customs procedures. The developed trainee program enables them to gather practical experiences and know-how in inland navigation.
